Busy, busy day

The day started off just nice..I got in the office earlier than usual. I must say I had a good night sleep yesterday. Hmmm....it’s been some time since I had a restful sleep. Just wondering if it’s contributed by the fact that I had a very, very ultra light break fast. I should do this more often if that is the reason.
Starting from my first meeting at almost 10am (walaupun boss kata meeting pukul 9.30am, tapi tak per lah sebab dia boss kan), the day went by like a whirlwind. I left the meeting towards the end of the meeting to see a client in KL. JAKEL is a retail outlet for carpets, fabric for clothing, curtains and upholstery, with an amazing collection of the goods. To think that MOHD JAKEL went into retail almost 10 years ago because of the country’s economic downturn, I am very impressed with what I saw in their outlet. Bangga giler orang kita dah excel in the business with 16 branches nationwide. Rows and rows of kain cantik-cantik...I wished I had the money to spend. Tambah- tambah pulak raya dah nak dekat ni...baju dah siap pun ada very the cik murs... Teruja akak..
By the time, the meeting ended and after a tour of all 4 levels of the shop and also their carpet and shawl shops across the road, we reached the office at almost 2.00pm. Ahhh...I missed my 1pm meeting.


Next one at 3pm, which lasted an hour, after which I was running around getting approvals for some creatives for Raya and also for a press conference at 5.30pm today. Kesian budak Shahril, rasanyer dah nak pengsan turun naik, running around, trying to get things done on time. By the time the press conference started it was almost 6pm. When everything was in order I quickly left home and got back just in the nick of time before berbuka....phew...Hari ni I beli ayam rendang, fish curry and sayur kobis goreng dari cafe kat office for the kids...hmmm nyum, nyum...and hubby bought all sorts of bread from The Bread Story. Zaim makan macamlah dia puasa..tapi yang penting dia pergi surau macam dia puasa...hehehe...

Burp! Alhamdulillah... dah berbuka semua? We berbuka at home today. Actually since puasa started 9 days ago, memang kami berbuka at home. We prefer it that way. Tak kelam kabut nak solat maghrib di luar although Alhamdulillah sekarang ni banyak tempat berbuka dah provide tempat bersolat. Tapi mana boleh beat buka at home, lepas buka boleh terus lepak-lepak atas katil solat Maghrib kan? kan? So we either tapao from one of the shops near home or wherever we fancy or I would cook simple stuff for buka. Today our menu was : our usual brown rice, ikan goreng selar kuning (yellow thread fish), kangkung goreng belacan ( water spinach fried with prawn paste chilli), acar buah (bought from my cousin) , my husband’s telur dadar (omellete) and for sweets, I made jemput jemput . This is what we call these banana balls or orang belah sini panggil cekodok (I could never associate this beauties with an animal name, though... kodok sounds kinda gross). Japan, April 2018

I was in Tokyo last month. Alone... well there were millions of people in Japan but yeah I was travelling alone. Up till the night I boarded the plane, I was still asking myself “Oi! Apasal nak pergi sorang arr? Japan pulak tu... London kan senang? Gang ramai, semua cakap English” Ok panic kejap tapi tak boleh keluar kapal terbang dah.. So, yup, there I was on that MH night flight with an itinerary for 8 days in Japan. No turning back, perempuan! April was my birthday month and what I wanted was to spend it quietly alone. Anyway, last year I had enough birthday celebrations to last me till this year. Alhamdulillah for good friends and family! Sampai Narita at almost 7am. First time in Tokyo and how do I buy a train card? With a lot of asking (ayam and itik bercakap) and hand gestures. Salam Ramadan

Assalamualaikum and Salam Ramadan! Wow! Hello! Am back! Been a while. 6th day of Ramadan and I’ve been quite good (I think) managing my food intake. Saya sudah tua la; have to start being more serious about what I put in this old engine. So, I was in a 10 days detox program just before Ramadan and managed to bring the weight down by 2.7kg; not much but good for me as it has sort of kick off a better eating habit. People who knows me are well aware that I love food. I used to run a lot so the weight was somehow kept in check. Now that I have significantly decrease my running mileage, the weight has become quite stagnant if not, moved up a bit! Eek! So for those interested, this is my go-to recipe for sahur, which is super easy and super healthy. It’s the Chia Seed Pudding. Lots of recipes online but here’s mine: I use a mason jar this.
