Warning: Ini adalah posting "past tense" katanya.. These are the movies that I have managed to watch this month despite my buat-buat busy schedule: The Taking of Pelham 1,2, 3 - Watched DVD at home as we missed it at the movies. I have always loved John Travolta whether he plays a villain or otherwise. I have always loved movies starring Denzel Washington. This psycho thriller kept me sitting up straight in bed while watching it..Giler jahat si John Travolta but I still think he's cool...This movie is different. No leading actress, mostly centers around the two male characters, mostly filmed on the high speed train but still provides plenty of action and thrills. Astro Boy - The kids loved this. Simple story. Nice animation...walaupun John Travolta lagi comel dari Astro Boy.. A Christmas Carol - From the director David Zemeckis and a Charles Dickens classic with Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth and Robin Wright Penn's voices among others, this animation is somew...

Lucky, lucky meeeee

We had the chance of watching 2 great shows this month...the perks of the job, I say. The only thing, is that the job does not give me the privilege of time to blog about it sooner..but like they say...better late than never. CUCI THE MUSICAL.. I didn't watch the movie so I went to watch this, with a open mind though expecting nothing but the best from Afdlin and gang! Our seats are quite near the stage so we were able to see everything quite clearly. We were not disappointed at all! The only kesian thing was Afdlin's voice was hoarse from a sore throat..Sikit potoing ar... other than that the show was excellent. Even Hans can sing..Vocal classes, I guess. AC and Awie's character was very, very funny and the rest of the cast really complimented the whole show. Vanidah, Adibah Noor was at their best! I urge you to watch it. The musical is on till 8th November in Istana Budaya..You won't regret it! THIS IS IT...MICHAEL JACKSON Although I'm not a fan of th...

Selangor hari ni public holiday...Hari Keputeraan Sultan Selangor...Happy Birthday Tuanku!! Took the kids for the screenings of Space Chimps yesterday night..Between me and Fizah we brought 11 kids to the movies. Zaim and Hakim gelak kuat seh dalam punggong panggung. Akak sempat diinterview by Whoa! crew lagi. Amende aku cakap ek?? Hape-hape ler... After the movies it's off to Kayu for supper.. I was supposed to go to the gym at 8am this morning...haha tak bleh bangun woh..My trainer called at 7.30 am and I asked for later slot so went again at 2pm. Giler jam dalam parking lot OU! I didn't even get to park at the One Club lots. That's how bad it was...Had a good work-out though. The gym was quiet, guess a lot of people is away for the long weekend break. Last Tuesday was just as quiet... Drove home, picked Imran and Aisyah up, took Imran for his long overdue haircut. Rambut dah macam Makunga, singa gangster dalam Madagascar lagi mau simpan...bengang akak!! and as alway...

Tengok kartun pun nangis???

Image
If you have kids like me, Madagascar adalah cerita wayang wajib tonton especially cuti-cuti sekolah nih bila kepala budak-budak nak naik pecah sebab boring habis sebab tatau apa nak buat. Engkorang dah tengok? Today we managed to catch it after our brunch at kway teow aunty gemuk in Kelana Jaya. It was a fun movie...good laugh... but cry?? Aku nih cakap boss aku, mamat jiwang yang suka lagu pop cintan dan rasa semua movie cinta cerita dia sendiri, kan Zaida??? Tapi aku tengok cerita kartun boleh nangis, paham tak Salmah?? It's a case of art imitating life, where one character Marty Melman The Zebra Giraffe itu yang bila tahu dirinya dah nak kujat in less then 48 hours baru sebok2 nak mencurahkan cintanya pada sigedempol Gloria The Hippo, badak pohan (perempuan) berbulu mata lentik berbadan size extra large seperti kata Moto Moto (btw, this means HOT HOT) badak jejantan yang baru nak masuk daun tetapi sangat LAME! Jadi dalam kedesperatan di zirafah itu sebab mengetahui yang...

I just realized I really like James McAvoy

Image
Selama nih aku ingat macam suka-suka tengok jer dia acting...tapi kalau dah sampai tahap pergi ke http://www.jamesmcavoy.com/ to check out his bios and all sampai blackberry gua panas...hmmm...musykil. There's something about this Scots that...ish tatau nak cakap ahhh...We watched the movie PENELOPE yesterday night...second time for Aisyah yang suka McAvoy kurang sikit jer dari Depp...Babe, jgn marahI love you more that McAvoy though... Anyway, back to McAvoy, I guess what attract me to him is that he has this underdog qualities that is endearing. He's not Cruise cute or Pitt dashing...but...aiyoh lost for words...and when he acts it's almost effortless. I've watch Atonement, Wanted, Becoming Jane, The Last King of Scotland. Siapa ada the old Band Of Brothers tak? He's in that one too.. The movie is cute...almost fairytale like; the kind that has a moral of the story at the end of it...Check it out if you like chick flick and James McAvoy!!!

Penang and others

Image
Took the kids to Penang during the last week of the school break last week. The 3 days combined trips to the hotel pool, the Feringghi beach, overdosing of Penang food and last but not least a stop at the Taiping Zoo, which I think made Zaim's day because I have a feeling, he thinks that the animals only exist on TV. I had the privilege of previewing 2 new movies these past weeks before their release to the public...hehe...the advantages of the job... Kabir Bhatia's latest release "SEPI" and Yasmin Ahmad's "MUALLAF". Both movies have their strength and weakness. I'm not qualified as a movie reviewer so I won't go into details here. Catch the movie when it comes out. SEPI premieres on the 20th June while MUALLAF will be later. Walaupun aku ada sikit worry takut tak lepas censorship. Am crossing my fingers for The Storyteller . They say good things will come to those who wait.. I have been watching this series call "CALIFORNICATION...

I am Muslim too..

Managed to catch Zan Azlee's "I am Muslim too" screenings at Help Uni theatrette yesterday. Picked Aisyah up at home. She has this thing about anything indie; whether it's movie ka, docu ka, music ka..She has started to ask us for handycam and has already listed subject matters that she wants to shoot...Deal with that later lah.. Anyway, after getting lost trying to get to Help Uni and frantic calls to Zan and a few other people, we finally got there. Saw a few familiar faces. Amir Muhammad was there selling his books. We bought one " New Malaysian Essays 1' which he autographed for Aisyah and later he warned me about some 'foul' languages in the book....Matilah mak dah bayar baru cakap...hehehe. All that forgotten when I hear Amir's familiar laugh..One guy with the funniest laugh I've ever met... The movie was, should I say quite interesting. Zan went to a few mid eastern countries to check out the Muslim lives there. There was ...

Looonnnnnggggg ...CNY break..Part 1

Image
As I'm writing this, I'm watching HAIRSPRAY with the rest of the brood. To tell you the truth, the main attraction of buying the DVD cetak rompak in the first place was my undying love for John Travolta..(jangan marah sayang..) and seeing him in this movie made my admiration for him soar even more.. Ever since his Grease days, I've yet to see him in another musical..and him playing a big woman in this one., singing and dancing again is so much fun.. Best siot!!!But I prefer Danny Zucko anytime lah...Anyway, I love movies where underdogs win the day!

CINTA revisited and SUMOLAH!!!

Last Sunday, masa tengah boring giler sebab tak keluar rumah and my hubby tak nak bercakap pasal dia kata dia sakit gusi yang dah dekat sebulan sakit, I took the opportunity to watch CINTA all over again, the 3rd time for me. But the difference with watching it the first and second time is that I had the comfort of watching the production values, the emotions and facial expressions of the actors and also the chance to rewind sesuka hati sebab nak dengar dialog and shots yang sangat poignant itiew. The facial expression of actors like Rashidi Ishak, Ngasrizal, Nanu, Datuk Rahim Razali reflects the pain and sorrows each of the characters that they played.,...Hmmm...patutlah cerita nih menang award sebab dah tengok 3 kali pun rasa ok lah... I won't waste my time reviewing the movie as it has been done countless times by a lot of people. Rather I want to zoom in on my favorite lines/dialogues in the movie..Something like quotable quotes lah ni. Brilliant script writing at most place...

Tengok tibi malam sabtu...

I've just completed my assignment which was due last week...Sorry lah doc, nak potong markah pun potong lah...No excuses memang tak dak time nak tengok assignment. In between, the assignments manage to also watch Festival Filem Malaysia. What to do, when you are in the industry, somehow kena lah jugak amek tau, siapa menang awards, siapa menang best films. From the little that I managed to catch, CINTA my favorite Malay movie this year macam menang banyak categories. Also Kak Min's movie, Mukhsin managed a few awards as well. Cuma my favorite Kodok jer yang nampak senyap...Kesian Afdlin. Am keeping my fingers crossed for him...Rock on, bro!! Will look out for the full winners list tomorrow. Anyway, it's botox galore at FFM. Maju sangat orang industri kita...huwargh...Dah macam topeng dah muka semua. Yang tetap meletupz au natural...Vanidah Imran. Cun babe that one!! Anuar, thanks for keeping the sms going so I kept on watching...Kalau ikut hati dah lama aku tukar channe...

Music & Lyrics and about being passionate

Image
Hari Isnin tak kerja hari tu, I managed to watch a movie on dvd at home ' MUSIC & LYRICS' starring my 2 favorite actors, Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant. It has a very simple, charming storyline. It's about Alex Fletcher (Hugh Grant) as the has-been 80's pop star. When a sizzling star on the charts asks the has-been '80s pop sensation to write her a song, he grabs for another chance at stardom. The problem is Alex has always been a music writer but never a good lyricist. In comes ,Sophie Fisher (DREW BARRYMORE), his quirky plant lady, who has a green thumb for lyrics. Together, they go after songwriting success -- and discover that if you want to write the perfect love song, it helps to fall in love. With Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore, Music and Lyrics is a witty, wacky romantic comedy that faces the music...and laughs! As a critic put it "Hilarious, sweetly romantic and as infectious as a great pop song, this one hits all the right notes." (Dan Jewel...
