My first 2011 post and many more to come (I hope)

2nd week into the new year..so how has it been to everyone?

I didn't make a resolution to update this like, everyday, so this is a good start.

I made a deliberate effort to somehow welcome 2011 differently, not that there was anything remotely wrong with how we did it in the recent years. We've done city hotel stays before watching the fireworks from the 15th floor of Impiana KLCC, we've taken the opportunity to make a trip to Singapore at least 2 years in a row, even if it was a few days before the new year and there were countless "stay at home, watch fireworks from the front gate" which was cool as well, at least it worked for us.. fussy lot we're not..

GENTING

Having spent the Xmas weekend in Genting with the kids, the week before convinced us me that ok, enough spending...seriously Genting can be quite a spent, especially with food. But our stay at The Club Room was very pleasant and my ride on the Space Shot (the only ride I have the guts balls to go up on) was awesome! And the Revival concert, the group who sang all of ABBA's songs was really fun. Khairin even get to do the finale with the group, up on stage which left her gushing "This is like the best birthday treat ever!!" (her birthday was 5 days earlier). After Genting, Mak kopak tau! Does not help that school's was starting and we had school supplies to spend on.

RUN

So on 31st December, I decided to end the year with my last run on 2010. I tried a new route, the Shah Alam lake, because I had to drop Aisyah off at a gig at the Shah Alam Extreme Park. Did about 4.5km, which felt kind of ok. I thought I could follow up this run with a "the first run of 2011" the next day but other stuff took precedence over running. Not until the 3rd did I get to run again..this time 6km near home. I noticed a nagging pain on my left ankle and decided to lay off running for a bit. I've been giving the ankle a cold daily compress and elevating my foot while sleeping.  Restless, I ran on Saturday for about 5km. Today the discomfort is still there..and I might succumb to my maid's massage later..

#1111twtup

I missed the much hyped #23Octtwtup so when an invite was received from @norm_nordin (the organiser) through twitter (what else?) I decided, I WILL ATTEND...I will attend even if I had to go alone..coz i didn't hear of any of my friend's on twitter who said they were going..A few days before the event, I suddenly felt nervous. I was going to meet complete strangers who I only twitted with and it seemed like a big step to actually meet these people in person (a bit like a blind group date..hahaha). I even ordered the twtup tshirt from @zicco_tees (which turned out nicer than the pic online). And a few days before it happened I found out my former colleague @syafique will be joining as well..that solves the "i don't know anyone here" problem. What better ways that meeting new friends to start 2011..I can't think of any then..and I'm glad I did. It turned out to be fun!

My #1111twt t-shirt!!

There was these cool rockers, Muzza and Din (father and son) I was told, who belted out old skool rock songs like "Knockin On Heaven's Door", "Faithfully", "Bila Rindu" . Their video's  here, if you wanna see what I meant, when I say they're good. I met Norman, the organiser,  (who looked slimmer than his avatar), and sat at the same table as @syafique, @whizbeb, @fahroe, @liliemiliyana, @Sya_Zana85..and also familiar faces on my timeline @Karrotgold @zullicious @TuanSenangBesar, @altimet. They seemed to all know each other while a group of us sat among ourselves trying to chat, hence we were called the #lazybums for not moving our asses to mingle.

These people that I met on the night of 1st January 2011 are the friendliest bunch. I don't mind crowds but I usually rather avoid them but I'm glad I decided not to...that night of 1st Jan. I'm glad I gave in to the strong urge to meet new people this new year, broaden my outlook on things and exchange opinions, views. I hope that this won't be the last..Twitter is sure amazing..

On new year's day, I met up with my old friends from the earlier batch of ntv7's people, at Becky's place who's  back from Melbourne for the Xmas and New Year hols. I love reunions, I love reminiscing about not so old times, I love the laughter and smiles going all around.
