Bangkok day 2
Eee...cannot sleep ahhh...yesterday..something about being in a strange bed or was too tired after all the walking. This morning by 7.15am was already terkebil-kebil.
We were out of the hotel quite early. Wanted to head to Siam Square. Hailed a cab. The cabbie told us that all the malls in Siam Square will only be opened at 1pm today bacause of some religious rites..whateva... So he took us to this place, some Gem Centre in Petchaburi area (way out of the way from Siam Square) where a lot of tourist flocked too. After getting off the cab, something told me that we've been had, but nevertheless, we walked around in the Gem Centre. Bought souvenirs and stuff.
Breakfast tak lagi nih...Perut sudah lain macam angin. Jamal remembered this restaurant in Sukumvhit area called Usman. Lucky the Gem Center provided us with transfer to the nearest BTS station near this monument. In Sukumvhit we walked a bit a reached the restaurant. Saw some fellow Malaysian from AMP radio at the restaurant. They are having some sort of seminar at the nearby hotel.
Lunch was fantastic!! Walau pun semua pekerja Usman sangat tenang bekerja... slow jer sumer.. After lunch we walked around the old Bangkok area, along the red light area of Cowboy Street before we took the BTS to Siam Square.
Happening seh, Siam Square..ZEN has some of the best shoes I've seen. Outside Siam Square there was a massive crowd of young people selling their wares. Stuff like bags, tshirts, painted shoes, knick knacks. Bought some stuff for the kids. And I bought myself a Levi's 517 for about RM154, which is quite alright I guess.
After coffee in Siam Paragon, we head back to the hotel stopping at the Sala Daeng BTS station. Ha..lots of good local stuff for sale along the area. Took a cab back to the hotel, quickly shower and went for one of the best tradional Thai massage which cost of only RM40 for 2 hours.
Dinner was at this 'cekik darah' Indian Tandoor place, where we had dinner yesterday. as we were left with no choice. Muslim food is hard to get here. Give me Jakarta anytime, I say.
We are heading to the famous Chatuchak tommorow. Till then, see ya!!
P.S Jamal had some tailor made shirts made here which cost him RM72 per shirt, which is dirt cheap compared to tailor made stuff back home.
