Aisyah & Teacher's Day
Yesterday, I found myself back in my alma mater, the main campus ground of UiTM, Shah Alam. The last time I was there was for my own graduation. The ceremony was held at DATC, short for Dewan Agong Tuanku Canselor, a new auditorium for all formal university functions. The truth is, I didn't know where the shuttle bus took us from where we parked our car at Section 7, Shah Alam. Bimbo moment, made worst with the heat of the day and the fact that we didn't know our way around the area plus we were late...(which is not unusual based on our track records).

The grand DATC |
So Aisyah completed her Diploma in Artistic Writing last year. We're all glad that part of her life is over and done with. I attended the ceremony with the hubs and her grandfather. Got there in the nick of time. All her course mates were already in the hall, and she was 'inserted' into the line. And less than 15 minutes later, I heard her name being called up. My first born, recipient of the Vice Chancellor Award for making the Dean's List every semester she was at Uni. Almost surreal for me, seeing her receiving her scroll. I could vividly remember holding her on one arm 21 years ago, except it doesn't feel like it has been that long.

The best I could capture from where I was sitting |
How ironic that she received her Diploma a day before Teacher's Day here. This girl of mine, so wise for her age. She's my teacher of life, my pillar of strength along with the other kids. Kalau rumah kira tiang seri la. She kept me on my toes, I'm almost scared of her...hahaha..kiddin!!
At 21, we think she's ready to make her life decision. Graduation is just a stage in life. Many more life challenges and triumphs to look forward to, insyaAllah. And we as parents, as much as we want to still hold on to that imaginary rein on her, are slowly letting go.
p.s We didn't take any photos yesterday at the ceremony. So today before she returned her robe and mortarboard, she dropped by and met me during lunch, complete with flowers. My sweet, sweet Aisyah..
